Our Story & Heritage

Founded in 1950 by Henry H. Schacht, a traveling salesman who traded in the road for 50 acres of promise in the heart of Indian River citrus country, Schacht Groves began with a bold dream. Within seven years, that dream blossomed into a thriving grove renowned for its juiciest oranges, grapefruits, and—most beloved—Honeybell tangelos. Today, three generations later, Henry F. Schacht and his son Louis carry on this legacy, still rooted in the same 145-acre grove with the same commitment to quality.

Values We Cultivate

Our philosophy remains the same: grow the finest fruit, treat it with care, and there will always be a market. Over the years, we’ve transformed from a simple grove to a thriving family-run experience—shipping fruit nationwide, curating an artisan farm store, hosting farm-to-table dinners, and welcoming visitors with u-pick experiences. Every step nurtures that same old-Florida charm, community spirit, and sustainable tradition

What Awaits You Here

  • Family Legacy & Tropical Charm

Step into our grove and you’ll still feel that authentic Florida spirit—growing, harvesting, and sharing citrus the way it was meant to be.

  • Farm & Market Experience

Our market overflows with fresh-squeezed juice, seasonal citrus, local produce, artisan jams, honey, and Florida-inspired gifts

  • Engaging Events and Gatherings

Join us for unforgettable evenings with our farm-to-table dinners, grove tours, wreath-making, fall and holiday festivals, and cozy sunset cocktail nights surrounded by the scent of citrus.

  • U-Pick Family Fun

Grab a basket and stroll into our grove to pick your own oranges—perfect for families, especially children. It’s a heartfelt, hands-on experience you won’t find at the grocery store.

Why It Matters

We are more than a grove—we are stewards of a community legacy. In an era when so much feels mass-produced or transient, Schacht Groves honors a slower, more intentional way of life—rooted in the land, in family, and in shared moments beneath citrus trees.

We invite you to visit the farm, taste our sweetness, and join us in the joy of Vero Beach citrus tradition.

Warmly,

The Schacht Family
